This day and age we live in, I think at some point in time we will all eat something that is high in cholesterol or fall into a bad diet plan. I just simply think it is impossible to eat healthy all the time and never slip up and it may be a bad idea to try to never slip up. While eating healthy for your heart is something everyone should do, we all stumble. If we have eaten unhealthy all of our lives, eating healthy is something we can do to restore our health back to a healthy state and reduce heart attacks and strokes before it is too late.
How does food and fats effect our heart?
We know for sure that foods high in saturated fats will raise the cholesterol in our bodies and also raise the risk for heart disease and heart attack. We also know that people who are obese are more prone to heart disease and that sodium may actually irritate the situation to help elevate a persons blood pressure even quicker.
We also know that a person can be slim and appear fit but also be not fit inside and have their arteries clogged and even pro athletes are not immune to clogged arteries, which makes them subject to also have a stroke or heart attack.
What can we do to improve our health and also prevent heart disease?
Choosing healthy fats and oils is a great start
Saturated fats will increase heart disease several times over. It can be found in a variety of foods that are commonly eaten today. Some of those foods include meat, butter, and even coconut oil. Do we need to avoid these foods forever? I say no we don’t need to, but we do need to avoid them until we get our bodies back under control and lose all the weight we need to lose and then we need to practice self control and moderation.
Oils that have mono-unsaturated fats such as olive oil will help protect your heat even though they are high in calories. It is ideal for putting on a salad or for using as a cooking oil and even for a garlic dipping sauce for bread.
