Becoming Healthy was not easy for me! Nope it wasn’t… not at all! So if you are going through the struggles of becoming healthy… you want it… you desire it… BUT have become an “Excuse Junkie”… I feel You! I have been where you are Now! So I’m not Judging!
For me it was a slow process of trying to understand what I needed to achieve in my life to really be healthy. The first struggle I had to overcome was getting a clear understanding of what this thing called “Healthy” really meant.
For a long time I thought if I STOPPED eating “all” the foods I loved, eat lots of salad and go to the gym 5 times a week then surely I would be healthy! And maybe I was a tiny bit healthier but I continued to crave those foods I loved, I was stressed and I was irritable. So this means of becoming healthy was always short lived because healthy, in my mind, came with negative side effects. But the great news is Healthy doesn’t come with negative side effects, it doesn’t leave you irritable and definitely doesn’t feel stressful! So… what is HEALTHY really?
According to WHO (World Health Organization), health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
So, the first thing we need to understand is being healthy is not just about eating fruits and veggies and saying no to sugar forever. It also, does not mean if you are free from any chronic illnesses (like high blood pressure or diabetes), diseases or cancers that you are completely healthy. And please don’t think because you are slim and trim that you are healthy! Skinny is not a sure sign of Health!
Health is the complete balance of nourishing your body with the right nutrition, developing coping skills to deal with life’s twist & turns and allowing yourself to recharge and reboot by embracing “Me Time” (either alone or in a positive social setting with “positive people”). You following Me?
